"Your Home Based Small Business and The Wizard of Oz!"

Now normally you wouldn't necessarily think of your home based small business as being something you would associate with the Wizard of Oz, but I've got a little analogy I think you might use.

If you remember the story -- and who doesn't, you'll know that our heroine, Dorothy, landed in the land of Oz but desperately wanted to get back home to Auntie Em and her family.

Some people who start their own work from home company, may feel as if they've landed in the land of Oz. If you've been working all your life for someone else, or you're just starting to get back into the workforce after having been gone for some time, you'll think, "Boy, we're not in Kansas anymore!"

Here's where you can start applying the Oz principles:

1. You've got to have a purpose. In Dorothy's case, her purpose was to get home. She had a goal and she grabbed onto it with both hands. No matter what she ran into she held on to that goal. Your goals need to be just as compelling to you and your at home based business as Dorothy's were to her.

2. You've got to have a plan. Now Dorothy's plan was to get to the Wizard. She knew if she could just got to that all powerful Wizard, she would be able to achieve her goals. With your top home based business you've also got to have a plan to achieve your goal. You've got to be clear about the tasks that need to be done to get what you want.

3. You've got to have a path. Well surely your path won't be as obvious as a yellow brick road! But if you've got your purpose and goals all figured out, as well as your business plan, (even starting slowing with a plan of action to earn extra money from home), you'll be able to visualize and lay out the road map you'll follow to achieve success.

4. You've got to have a process. In Dorothy's case, she put one foot in front of the other, picked up her support team along the way, and never wavered from her purpose. Putting processes in place for your top home business will help make your goals that much easier to achieve.

Even when the flying monkeys and marching guards, and the wicked witch conspired to keep Dorothy from achieving her goals -- she persisted and finally made it home to Kansas and Auntie Em.

So if you got a purpose, a plan, a path and a process -- you're on your way. Don't let the flying monkeys you'll meet along the way cause you to lose sight of what you've set out to accomplish with your at home based business.

Above all, stay focused -- stick with the path you've set, don't be tempted to veer off-course, (although some "tweaking might be called for if absolutely needed"). Your home based small business will be successful in no time-- especially if you have the right coach on your support team.
