"What Do Ants Have To Do With Your Home Based Small Business?"

I've got a few favorite authors and mentors whose wisdom I have used over the years. One of my favorite is Jim Rohn and even though he recently passed away, his legacy lives on for millions. He helped me with my top home business and showed how the philosophy of ants should be applied.

Ants? Yep -- ants.

If you spend time observing ants you'll find that they've got several qualities that we could all use in our at home based business even if you're goal is to just earn extra money from home:

1. The first thing you'll notice is that ants never quit. If you put an obstacle in their path, they'll just go around it. If they can't go around it, they'll go over it, under it, or through it. You cannot stop an ant from its mission to succeed.
2. Second, you'll also notice that even in the middle of summer, they are planning for winter. They are gathering and storing supplies and food. They would not ever be so naïve as to think about an endless summer. They know winter is coming and they prepare for that period of time.
3. Third, what you won't see so much, is that in the winter, they plan for the coming warmer seasons. They are raring to get out of the nest to get back to work. On a nice spring day you'll see them everywhere -- they are just itching to get going.
4. Finally, have you ever seen an ant carry something that is far bigger than itself? Ants have the philosophy to do all they can possibly do to succeed in their goals. They carry burdens most of us wouldn't dream of -- but many people lack that "all-you-can-possibly-do" philosophy.

How does this philosophy apply to your work from home company?

First and most importantly adopt the challenge to never quit. Even if your home based small business is not doing as well as you think it should at this point. Look at all angles of your business. If you can't get around a particular problem figure out how to go over, under or through. Don't ever quit trying.

Second, plan for winter. When the money from your top home based business is flowing like a fast moving river and you think you've got it made -- plan for winter. Make sure you've got your saving plan, investment strategy, and contingency fund set up and fully operational. I'm not saying plan for something bad to happen -- if you do it will. Call it a "rainy day" contingency plan ans be sure to plan for a prosperous retirement as well.

Third, if winter is here, plan for the warmer months to come. I'm not necessarily talking about a season as much as a time of life. Your at home based business may be slow during certain times of the year so if that happens, you should spend your time reading, learning, planning, strategizing, sharpening your tools. That way when the good times come back, you're prepared to take advantage.

Finally, adopt the "all-you-possibly-can-do" philosophy. Live your life to the fullest -- each and every moment. Get out of it as much as you are able, and put back into it everything you are able.

The bottom line is to never give up, look ahead, stay positive, and do all you can. If you do, your home based small business and your live will thrive. All because of a little old ant! Wow!
