“Tax Time! Is Your Home Based Small Business Feeding The Golden Goose?”

You might ask what tax time has to do with feeding the goose that lays the golden egg. Actually, its a way of thinking that makes it easier for your at home based business to pay taxes.

We all know the many benefits of owning a top home business include our ability to write off so many of our expenses on our income taxes. If we're smart, we can write off things from office supplies, to home office expense, to travel for business that can also be part pleasure. At the end of the day, though we still need to write that check to Uncle Sam.

My friend and mentor Jim Rohn suggests we look at paying our taxes as feeding the goose that lays the golden egg. He equates the goose to Uncle Sam. We've all agreed to live in a society that uses taxes to help fund the things we all use. The golden eggs are things like roads, schools, Social Security, Medicare, fire fighting, police, and much more. Things we would not be able to buy on our own, but collectively it makes for producing the best country in the world.

In addition to all of the things our taxes go to support, we have been given the freedom to worship when we want, how we want, and if we want. We can gather as Tea Party members, if we want, without fear of retribution. And we are free to start a work from home company if we choose to do so!

We are free to pursue life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We're free to earn extra money from home or go for "greatness by launching our own top home based business. All because we "feed the goose that lays the golden eggs."

You might say -- Well that goose is just too fat! I agree. But then, there are a lot of us who could afford to lose an extra twelve pounds. I know I can! But it takes discipline -- on our part and on the part of the government. Until that goose can loose those extra pounds, I for one, am happy to have a fat goose rather than no goose.

That said, I'm happy to feed the goose that gives us the freedoms we have and the country we live in. The golden eggs we get are well worth the price we pay.

That's my tax rant for the day!
