"Get Your Work From Home Company Humming Like a TOP!"

It could be that if you're just starting your new at home based business you've determined that there are a number of things about it you have taken a real fancy to. Like: there's no boss checking your every move, your daily commute of hours has suddenly given you back so much time, the dress code is whatever you want it to be for the day -- plaid flannel pjs and a t-shirt, personally I'm into sweats, and you're pretty much calling the shots on your schedule while you earn extra money from home. Cool!

After a couple of days or weeks though, you might start to think you're developing a case of attention deficit disorder! You are no longer as focused as you once were and you are feeling completely scattered. It's as if you can't concentrate on the task at hand. It happens -- suddenly you're the one in charge and you decide you need to fold a load of clothes, or clean out a junk drawer, or organize the closet, or run to the grocery store, or make a post on your favorite forum, or work on your home based small business plan, or go see how many people have read your most recent hub, or update your website, or take the dog to the groomer. Whew!

Here are several of my very most important hints to keep your top home based business life flowing harmoniously:

First and foremost - get some structure into your life. You need to figure out what is going to work best for you. If you've decided to work from home so that you can have the freedom of setting your own time lines and work assignments, that's fine! Just determine what should get done during the week, put it in the order of most important first, then plan your week with the end in mind.

Perhaps you can plan your mornings to be all work and no play or any other distractions. You get yourself to your top home business office -- which could be your kitchen table, and you work. Do NOT start your day answering emails. The only reason to check email is to see if any new orders have come in overnight that should be attended to. You should be able to know at a glance which are orders and which are other things -- the rest should wait until they are on your schedule!

If morning is the part of day that's most advantageous to phone your partners, do it then. Get the important things out of the way first. Be sure to use some kind of contact management software or other software that helps manage your calendar. That enable you to organize what you've done throughout the day and can get a feeling of accomplishment when you check off the items on your to-do-list. (I'm certain you have a daily to-do-list - - right? If you answered no, that's the first tip for getting your at home based business singing like a well oiled machine.)

The second thing I suggest is to expand your network and keep building it. This might be slightly more difficult if you've beginning work from home and you've started to get in the grove of staying at home. Getting out can be difficult -- but you need to build on your network, and that means conversing with people, to building those relationships. It is so important to the growth of your business! Whether you're in a internet business from home, or you've got an online home based business opportunity, or if you're in a dog training business from your home, you've got to develop relationships with people with whom you will be doing business.

Finally - acknowledge small, medium, and large successes! It is important to take some time to a.) celebrate your progress (and it could be very small) and b.) take the time recognize your accomplishments. It might be that you have been worried over some problem and spent an inordinate amount of time to find the just the right idea that would fix it. When you do, recognize your success and celebrate it! Your celebrations don't have to be big, but they do have to be recognizable as celebrations. Be sure to reward yourself with something meaningful to you -- a movie, a trip to the ice-cream shop, a new wireless mouse...whatever. And be sure to share your results and success with your family -- they'll appreciate being included.

Just remember to get yourself a schedule, grow your network, and celebrate your successes. Your at home based business will be running like a top in no time!
