"Easy Money and Your Home Based Small Business!"

If you're just starting out with an at home based business, I know you've been at least curious about easy money schemes all over the Internet these days. The ones that promise "millions in 12 weeks", or "easy $10k per month working from home", or "$127k in thirty days."

Over the years, I been asked a hundred times if any of these stories are true. Knowing what it takes to build a successful work from home company, and many entrepreneurs who have done so, I think I've developed a pretty good insight to these stories.

And I believe that some people have actually seen these kinds of results. In fact, I know some personally. I also know there is a LOT more to the story than meets the eye and frankly I'm a little disturbed by the kind of advertising that implies how easy it all is.

But I do know that is has never been as easy as some would lead you to believe, and in the cases I'm familiar with, it didn't come easy for most in their first attempt. I also know that the likelihood of instant riches is very very remote for the person just starting out.

While I know this is a buyer beware world, I do disapprove of this kind of advertising. In truth, of course the idea of making a million dollars a year by only working five hours a week appeals to me and probably most others as well.

Who wouldn't want that kind of lifestyle? You'd be crazy not to!

But here's a very critical distinction to learn:

There is a huge difference between making money like they promise, and building a top home business. The sooner you get that difference into the core of your being, the sooner you can get real with your success expectations.

Let's be clear, there's nothing really wrong with "easily making serious amounts of money with no effort and no experience" programs. I just happen to think that even if you were one of the minute minority that actually does instantly strike it rich and grasp the equivalent of the gold ring of the Internet, you still would not have a business. Instead, it would be like winning the lottery. Nice, but not a business.

To have a true top home based business, you must provide an identifiable and sustainable value to a market-place of customers.

You might know some gurus who have made and are still making millions of dollars every year on the Internet, but the ones who's names keep coming up over and over, are the ones who have created aan at home based business. And it didn't just happen over night -- it took them years.

If you've been around the Internet for any time, you know that you don't just create an ebook, set up a website and customers start beating down your door.

These "overnight gurus" have created an entire business around the information products they sell.

Here's what good home based small businesses consists of and as you review this list, think back to some of the best Internet gurus to see if their business don't contain these exact elements:

• Marketing research to identify, test, and develop your market niche
• Sales and distribution to provide a sustainable method of generating revenue
• Information technology to both market and deliver your product as well as to report and keep track of all of your systems
• Customer service or support to deal with the inevitable customer inquiries
• Finance for tracking and reporting sales and expenses
• R&D to develop additional products to keep your customers coming back

Regardless of the top home based business model; Internet marketing, MLM, consultancy, retail, dentistry,,, it doesn't matter -- they all have these elements of business. And these apply even if you're just trying to earn extra money from home.

The good news is that in today's economy there are hundreds of ways to build this foundation without spending a ton of money. However, if done right, can earn you a ton of money.
