Every 35 seconds in the United States alone, heart disease takes a life. Heart disease can be caused by many factors of course. It could be caused by genetics, it could be caused by life-style or it could be a combination of both.

If you've been told you have high cholesterol, you could be at risk for stroke or heart attack! There are a few things you can put into practice right away to begin to reduce cholesterol almost immediately. You can naturally lower cholesterol with just a few healthy additions to what you eat and what you do.

Take for example these 4.5 healthy tips to lower cholesterol naturally.

1. Eat Oatmeal for Breakfast - oatmeal is rich in soluble fiber that acts like a sponge to soak up that nasty LDL. Eat at least 1/2 cup each morning -- try it with blueberries which are high anti-oxidant protectors!

2. Add Flaxseeds to your Diet - in this case ground seeds are essential and can be sprinkled on salads, in soups, on your oatmeal and it can be added to casseroles without significantly changing the flavor. Aim for 2 tablespoons each day. Flaxseeds are rich with soluble fiber - so necessary for a heart healthy diet.
